I had a lot of fun making this small Dottie baby quilt and I knew that I wanted to use a chevron design.
There are two different sizes of polka dots, medium and small and in order to achieve the look I wanted for the quilt I tried various combinations and tried having a mix of small and medium polka dots for one chevron which didn’t work well (to me at least) and I prefer having the same size polka dot for one chevron.
When attempting to find the best placement for blocks it is always pleasing when it suddenly looks just right. Sometimes a great deal of patience is needed but there isn’t any need to rush a quilt.
The quilt was been made mainly using Moda Dottie 100% cotton Charm Packs. To balance the top of the quilt, plain deep yellow fabric has been used for the backing and for the binding. Straight line stitching has been used to quilt the patchwork and there is good quality wadding between the layers.
The quilt has been made with a domestic sewing machine and the binding was completed by hand.
