Make It Simpler Baby Quilt/Play Mat (Light)

Anyone familiar with Dorset Patchworks will know that I love working with pre-cut fabric, that is fabric that is already pre-cut by the manufacturer. 

I was particularly excited when I took delivery of a new line from Robert Kaufman called Make It Simpler and set myself a challenge to see what I could make using the whole pack.  So far I have made a pair of double oven gloves and this is the second baby quilt I've made using just a few of the strips from the bundle.  I chose the soft, golden colours from the collection. 

I made the quilt on a domestic machine and between the layers is a layer of 100% cotton wadding.  I machine quilted the patchwork using vertical lines.  This small baby quilt could also be used as a practical play mat.  The quilt is machine washable on a gentle setting.

The backing fabric perfectly complements the quilt top and the same fabric borders the quilt.

The approximate measurements of the quilt are:  W36½" x L42½" or W92.5 cms x L108 cms.
