Make It Simpler Place Mats

Some of you may be aware that I just love working with pre-cut fabric (fabric that is already pre-cut by the manufacturer).

When I took delivery of a new line from Robert Kaufman called Make It Simpler, which is a collection of wide strips in 32 different colours, I challenged myself to see what I could make using the entire pack.  So far I've made two baby quilts, a pair of double oven gloves and now I've made four place mats.  I still have two more projects to complete!

For these place mats I chose sophisticated colours and added a green binding with a subtle print to frame the mats.  The mats have a layer of 100% cotton wadding.  I made the mats on a domestic sewing machine and quilted the mats by machine and finished them off by hand.  The approximately measurements are 18" x 10.25" or 46 cms x 26 cms.

The place mats are machine washable on a gentle setting.
