One of the fabric lines I stock at the moment is called Dark Palette from Robert Kaufman Kona® Cotton and there is something about the richness and depth of colours that work particularly well together. I wanted to make an uncomplicated quilt so that the colours could be centre stage. To add an extra dimension, the quilt design I used is an off centre spiral. This addition gives the quilt a contemporary feel.
My hope was that I could make a piece that is versatile and I had in mind that it could be used as a baby quilt, as a play mat or even as a wall hanging. I used black fabric for the backing which is practical if you choose to use the quilt as a play mat.
At the moment the quilt doesn't have a hanging sleeve or corners added but I am happy to add a sleeve or corners at no extra cost, so if you would like this, just send me a message.
The patchwork has a faced binding (not visible from the front).
The approximate measurements of the quilt are: W34¼" x L40" or 87 cms x 101.5 cms.
The fabric is 100% cotton and has a layer of 100% cotton wadding in the middle. I made the quilt on a domestic machine and finished it by hand.
The baby quilt/play mat/wall hanging is machine washable on a gentle setting.
The photograph was taken outdoors so the image has some dappling caused by the sunlight and shadows.
