New Horizons Quilted Tote Bag With Pockets

There are times when you want a really practical bag but without the fuss of pockets or clips. This  New Horizons tote bag fits the bill.  The bag is lightweight and is perfect for carrying all sorts of things: swimwear, beachwear, newspapers etc.  There are pockets on the outside of the bag on both sides.

I used a combination of  modern prints called New Horizons (in olive and teal), together with some black solid fabric for the lining.  The bag has a layer of In R Form foam wadding. This gives the bag body so if you place the bag on a surface it remains upright. You can squash the bag and it will spring back into shape. the bag is fully lined. The straps have a layer of In R Form foam which makes the straps comfortable.

I've quilted the bag in vertical lines. I made the bag using a domestic sewing machine and finished it by hand.

The fabric is 100% cotton and is machine washable on a cold setting.

The approximate measurements of the bag when laid flat are: L15½" x W17" or L39 cms x W43 cms, The straps are an additional 14" or 35.5 cms.
