At the beginning of the year I made a bag by selecting some random pieces of fabric. The design was improvised and the bag sold within a week. However, I was asked by several people for the pattern so I decided to write one, which will be available as a PDF downloadable pattern in due course. In the process of writing the pattern I made some more bags in the same design using different colour combinations and this is one of them. The colours are Eggplant, Dusky Rose, Foxglove and Graphite with the addition of some black and white striped fabric.
The bag is a reasonable size. There's lots of room plus there is a zippered pocket on the inside and an attractive button fastening on the front. The inner pocket has been lined with some snazzy polka dot fabric complimenting the colour palette of the outside of the tote bag.
The bag is fully lined with plain Eggplant fabric and the straps are in Eggplant too. The bag is quilted in narrow vertical lines in cream thread.
The bag itself measures H15" x W17½" or H38cms x W44.5 cms. The straps add an additional 14” or 35.5 cms. The height of the inside pocket is about 7½" x 8" or 19 cms x 20 cms.
I used In R Form foam and this gives the bag extra body so that when you place the bag on a surface in doesn't collapse in a heap. The strap also has a layer of In R Form foam. The fabric is 100% cotton and the zipper is nylon. The button is ceramic. The bag is machine washable on a gentle setting (the button would need to be protected or ideally removed).
