Sashiko originates from Japan and is a type of decorative stitching. 'Sashiko' actually means 'little stabs'. Once used as a way of mending or recycling clothing it is now often considered as an art form.
This envelope cushion is fully lined and has been hand stitched on blue sashiko fabric with cream sashiko thread. The front of the cushion has a border in oatmeal linen. On the back there is a combination of blue sashiko fabric and the oatmeal linen. There is a button fastening on the back.
The approximate measurements of the cushion are 15½" x 15½" or 39 cms x 39 cms. The cushion pad is filled with duck feathers.
