Scrappy Patchwork Quilt - Hand Quilted

There is something very effective about using very small squares in patchworks.  The size of the finished squares (after being sewn together) is 1½" or 3.5 cms.  I've used a variety of different colours and prints making this a versatile quilt that will suit a number of colour schemes. The placement of the pieces is higgledy-piggledy.

The quilt is backed with a lovely subtle modern print and bound in bright yellow.

This patchwork quilt can be used as a sizeable lap quilt, a quilt topper for a double bed (without any drape),  or a quilt for a single bed with a drape.

The quilt measures approximately W72" x L82" or W183 cms x L208 cms.  The fabric is all cotton and sandwiched between the layers is some good quality 100% cotton wadding. 

The patchwork has been quilted by hand on the diagonal, which took months to complete!  The hand quilting gives a slightly antique padded appearance.

The quilt is machine washable on a gentle setting.

Photographing quilts is not always the easiest of tasks and where possible I try to photograph them outdoors.  The strength of the sun, shadows and wind often play havoc with the process.  When the outdoor photographs were taken of this quilt, I draped the patchwork over a beautiful well which is completely obscured by the quilt.
